camping hiking, coleman tent Generally, I lean towards camping hiking and outdoor adventure as far away from the presence of other people past those I’m with for the true Man vs. Wild experience. There is something about leaving the company of people behind with a few friends and having the freedom to do whatever pops into the head. With no one to see, who is going to care? One time four friends including myself got together, headed past the recreational camping hiking signs and continued up a dirt road for a good ten miles. After we hadn’t seen a Coleman tent or smoking camp fire for twenty minutes we pulled off in a perfect grass clearing surrounded by tall trees of Northern Arizona.

After setting up camp, we went exploring for a good picture of the lay of the land. On our way through the woods, we came across a raccoon, which wasn’t running away in fear. Being just as curious as the furry critter we got closer and noticed his foot had been hurt. Maybe attacked by a predator or caught in a trap. Anyway, we ran back to camp and grabbed some food and a dish of water while one person stayed with the injured raccoon. Leaving him the food and drink, we headed off. That night while in the Coleman tent we heard some scurrying around the campsite. Unzipping the flap, we saw the same raccoon sniffing around for food. We obliged him with hot dog buns and made ourselves a furry new friend.
