I'm giving my brother this indoor/outdoor thermometer for Christmas because he loves camping hiking and when he has a long weekend, it's very likely that he's out camping hiking. I thought he'd like to have an indoor thermometer to take along so he could know what the weather was in the remote areas he goes to where there's no wi-fi signal. Knowing the morning temperature is good for him to judge how far he'll hike. If it's too cold or too warm, he'll shorten the daily hike, but if it's going to be moderate that day, he'll go quite a ways. This will also be useful for him at home, too. He has a small dog who loves to spend her days in the backyard, but if the morning low is too high, he'll know to bring her in before he heads for work. Our weather is predictable based on the morning low. In the summer we add 30 degrees to the morning low and in the winter, just 20 degrees.
He takes his dog with him camping hiking and she just loves it. Believe it or not, she keeps right up with him even though she's only about eight inches tall. He often walks for 10 miles at a stretch when he's camping hiking, so when he gets back to his camping trailer, he's tired. I would be too! I enjoy finding things for him that he can use while he's camping hiking. Having an indoor/outdoor thermometer like this Acu-Rite Wireless Thermometer with Humidity, Clock and Remote Sensor. The remote sensor has a range of 100 feet and will support up to three sending units. I got it from All Star Sports Outlet located at www.allstarsportsoutlet.com, a site with a lot of outdoor sports equipment and camping hiking supplies.
It also has a humidity gauge, an alarm clock with a snooze function, a calendar, and moon phases. This is perfect for longer camping hiking trips when he wants to make sure that he knows the time and date. Believe it or not, it's not that hard to forget these things when camping hiking because it's like going into another reality when out in the wilderness. We used to backpack together and coming back to civilization was always a wake up call. Camping hiking can be mind altering because there is little evidence of civilization, except the vehicle we use to get to a camping hiking spot. We live near a mountain wilderness where we can camp just about anywhere, since it's all public land. It's a good way to repair and renew our mental health, so when the pressures of life start piling up on us, we go camping hiking to unwind. It's a great way to enjoy our native environment and get more out of life, too.
