There is nothing I like more than getting out into the great outdoors and enjoying my favorite outdoor sport; backwoods camping. When I was old enough to start walking my father began taking me into the woods for long camping hiking trips. No campgrounds. Just the woods, a pack, and some camping hiking gear. A few times we even walked off into he woods with only the clothes on our back and a knife.

Today, I am still doing the same thing. I make time to enjoy my favorite outdoor sport every year and now that my son is old enough to carry a small pack, we both venture out into the woods for special boys only weekends.

Last year for my birthday my wife, being the incredibly thoughtful person that she is, bought me something that I didn't think I would be that interested in. I had never used a headlamp before, usually getting by with a large flashlight. But, the first weekend I took it with me, it quickly became my favorite outdoor sport tool. She went online one day to All Star Sports Outlet, by going to www.allstarsportsoutlet.com, and thought this would make my night hiking a little bit easier. And was she ever right!

The headlamp I got is the Apex Headlamp, 3 Watt LED, Batteries Included, Black. It fits very nicely on my head so that I can keep my hands free. This is most important when I am on the rocks or going through very thick underbrush. It actually worked out quite well that first weekend when my son and I came across a large cave opening that we just had to explore. Because of the great light that was coming from my new Apex Headlamp, we could see quite a ways into the cave and see that it would make a great shelter for the night.

Any outdoor sport is made even better when you have the right tool on hand. I just wish I had thought of buying a headlamp long before this. I can think back to a lot of different trips when I could have used one. Especially the night I fell into the river because I didn't have a free hand to grab the protruding branch! Since that first weekend, I have gone back to All Star Sports Outlet several times. The first time was to pick up another headlamp or my son. Now we both have all the camping hiking gear we need.
